Nearly Done

I can't believe this has taken so long to complete.....
But I can't really complain as I have been so busy with work, which when you run your own business from home is a good thing!!!
Normally something like this would take a few weeks at the most
But I started just before my busy period, which was busier than usual
*
The front entrance is nearly completed.
I have decorated for Xmas, and the light was a bit off for photos, but you can get the general feel and look.....In the new Year I will take some more photo's of the final reveal.
*
Most of the renovation has been completed so I will post a few little snippets now
*
Next Year before the boys return to school I will......
*
*finish the skirting boards
*strip & paint doors
*remove Xmas Ornaments and re-decorate
*remove lino & stencil concrete floor
*sand and paint wooden floor in white
*

wall with photo frames - ready for new prints

the view as you walk into the house
(note door half stripped of old paint, and blue tape on frame for paint trim)
*
.....and yes my husband still dumps his bike in the entrance
*
But overall I really love the new look
By taking away the old original door and entry it has really opened the house up
The hallway now gets alot more light and looks more modern.
*
To stop it looking too modern I have kept an old sewing machine
left to my husband by his Grandmother and introduced some large wicker baskets to store shoes, shoolbags etc... out of sight.
*
Can't wait to complete the flooring and doors
It will make such a difference

It's Coming down

The old doorway is coming down tomorrow

as you can see....it is ugly
this is the view from the hallway facing the front doors (yes doors plural)
What happened was.....when an extension was done before we bought the house the new extension had a new front door put in, but the old front door and frame was left in place.
So at the moment you walk in the front door and then into another front door.
By removing the old doorway and framing the whole hallway will get alot more light.

this is the view as you enter the house.

Vicarage FOR SALE

How lovely is this renovated Vicarage for sale in Sweden...

I love the white and natural colour scheme

see more images from here

A bit far for the boys to travel to school and back, as well as the fact that I don't speak Swedish,
but I can still take inspiration, which is why the web is so great.

Impatient

Still ALOT to do
So far I have touched up the ceiling in the hallway
(it was covered in black smudge marks from ball games)
cleaned mold off windows
spray painted burgundy windows to a gloss white
patched up nail holes in wooden framing
painted framing gloss white 2 coats (another 2 to go)
painted a small section of the front entry
had a quote for the removal of old front door and widening the entry
(this will be started at the end of next week???)
.....
I still have to somehow work out how to get up to the second storey void near the staircase to reach the ceiling and walls to paint
I do have an old wooden firemans ladder - it may just be long enough
Old front door to be removed and entry widened
hallway walls painted
doors stripped and repainted
architraves & skirtings painted
lino removed
concrete floor painted and stencilled
wooden floor sanded and painted
.....
But I see the end result in my head and can't wait to start on all the fun things
like hanging the mirror
printing photos for the wall
buying some pots and plants
all the final little touches that will bring it to life
.....

Here is a collage I previously did for some entry inspiration
